VICTORY CHAPEL IS COMING TO CLAY COUNTY - JANUARY 2027 SERVICE #1

Find Jesus

WHAT DOES IT MEANTO BE SAVED?

To be saved means to be rescued by Jesus - forgiven for your sin, brought into a real relationship with God, and given eternal life (John 3:16). It's not joining a religion or turning over a new leaf. It's God doing for you what you could never do for yourself, because of what Jesus did on the cross.

Saved from what?

From sin and its consequences - separation from God now, and eternity without Him later. Sin isn't just rule-breaking; it's a broken relationship, and it's fatal if left untreated.

Romans 6:23 lays it out plainly: the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus. Death there means more than a funeral - it means separation from the God we were made for.

Here's the honest truth every person feels in their quiet moments: something in us is broken, and we can't fix it ourselves. That brokenness is what Jesus came to heal.

Saved by grace - not by being good

Ephesians 2:8-9 says it as clearly as possible: "By grace are ye saved through faith... not of works." You can't earn rescue. You can only receive it.

This is the most misunderstood thing about Christianity. People assume God's grading on a curve - good deeds on one side, bad ones on the other. But if being good could save us, Jesus didn't need to die.

Grace means God gives you what you don't deserve because Jesus paid for what you did. Your record doesn't get edited - it gets exchanged for His. That's why salvation is available to absolutely anyone, including you, right now.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast."
Ephesians 2:8-9

What do I actually receive when I'm saved?

Forgiveness of all sin, a brand-new start, adoption into God's family, His Spirit living in you, and eternal life. That's the package - and it's free.

The moment you trust Jesus, God forgives everything (1 John 1:9), calls you His child (John 1:12), makes you new (2 Corinthians 5:17), and seals your eternity (John 10:28). You don't get a second chance - you get a new life.

And it's not just future tense. Saved people get peace with God now, purpose now, and power over things that used to own them - now.

How does someone actually get saved?

Admit you need saving, believe Jesus died and rose for you, and call on Him. Romans 10:13: everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

There's no ceremony, no probation period, no cleaning yourself up first. The thief on the cross next to Jesus had no time to do a single good work - and he heard the words every guilty person longs to hear: "Today you will be with me in paradise" (Luke 23:43).

If you want that, tell Him. Right where you're sitting. Then take the next step: start following Jesus day by day - we've written a plain-language guide to help you begin.
