NEW CHRISTIAN?START HERE.

Welcome to the family - seriously. If you've just given your life to Jesus, heaven is throwing a party over you right now (Luke 15:10). You're forgiven, you're brand new, and you belong to God. This page is your orientation: what just happened, what's normal, and the first steps that will help your faith grow strong.

What just happened to me?

You were forgiven completely, made brand new, and adopted into God's family. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says the old life is gone - a new one has begun.

This wasn't self-improvement. God actually did something: your sins are forgiven (1 John 1:9), you're a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17), you're God's child (John 1:12), and His Spirit now lives in you (Romans 8:11). You didn't just turn over a new leaf - you received a new life.

You may feel different, or you may not. Either way, it's real - because it rests on what Jesus did, not on what you feel.

Totally normal things you're about to experience

Doubts, old habits flaring up, and days that don't feel spiritual at all. None of that means it didn't work - it means you're human, and growing.

Here's what nobody tells new believers: the feelings fade and come back, temptations still knock, and some days you'll wonder if anything changed. Welcome to the normal Christian life. Growth is a direction, not a mood.

When doubt whispers "you're not really saved," answer with the promise, not the feeling: "God said whoever calls on Him is saved - I called" (Romans 10:13). Feelings catch up to truth eventually.

Your first steps

Talk to God daily, read the Gospel of John, and get around other believers. Those three habits will grow your faith faster than anything else.

Pray simply and honestly - a few minutes a day beats an hour once a month. Read the Gospel of John first, then Mark, then keep going; ask "what does this show me about God?" as you read.

And find your people. Faith grows in community - it's almost impossible to sustain alone. If you're near Clay County, Victory Chapel launches January 2027 and we'd love to be your church family from day one. Wherever you are, don't do this alone.

"Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation."
1 Peter 2:2

Get baptized - go public

Baptism is your first step of obedience after salvation - a public declaration that you belong to Jesus. It's a celebration, not a test.

Every believer in the New Testament was baptized after they believed (Acts 2:41). It's how you say out loud what happened in your heart. If you're ready - or just curious what it means - we put together a simple guide to what baptism is.

You're going to make it

One last thing: the God who saved you is the God who keeps you. Philippians 1:6 says He finishes what He starts. Your job isn't to be impressive - it's to stay close. He'll handle the rest.

And if you ever need someone to pray with you or answer a question, reach out anytime. You don't have to attend our church - or any church - to ask. That's what family is for.
