VICTORY CHAPEL IS COMING TO CLAY COUNTY - JANUARY 2027 SERVICE #1

Find Jesus

WHO IS JESUS?

Jesus is the Son of God - fully God and fully man - who came to rescue us. He lived the life we couldn't live, died the death we deserved, and rose again to prove it was all true (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). He's not a legend, a lifestyle accessory, or a distant religious figure. He is alive, and He is the central question every person eventually has to answer.

More than a good teacher

Jesus didn't leave "good teacher" on the table as an option. He claimed to be God in the flesh - and then backed it up.

A lot of people are comfortable with Jesus the wise teacher. But Jesus never presented Himself that way. He said things no mere teacher could say: "I and my Father are one" (John 10:30). He forgave sins - something only God can do (Mark 2:5-7). He accepted worship without correcting anyone (John 20:28).

As the old argument goes: a man who says the things Jesus said is either lying, insane, or actually Lord. What He doesn't leave room for is "just a nice man with good ideas."

What did Jesus claim about Himself?

Jesus claimed to be the only way to God: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6).

That claim is either the most arrogant sentence ever spoken or the most important. Jesus said He came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10) - that's us. He said He came to give life, and life to the full (John 10:10). He said whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).

Notice the direction of it all: religion is man reaching up to God; Jesus is God reaching down to man. That's what makes Christianity different from every other system on earth.

What did Jesus do?

Jesus died on a cross for our sins and rose from the dead three days later - the most investigated claim of the ancient world, and the foundation of everything we believe.

The cross wasn't an accident. Jesus said no one took His life - He laid it down (John 10:18). He died as a substitute: the sinless for the sinful, so that we could be forgiven and brought home to God (1 Peter 3:18).

And He didn't stay dead. The resurrection is why a dozen frightened followers became fearless preachers overnight, and why two thousand years later, ordinary people still meet Jesus and find their lives completely turned around. Jesus still saves. Jesus still changes lives. We've watched it happen.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
John 3:16

Why does it matter for me?

Because if Jesus is who He says He is, then nothing in your life matters more than your response to Him.

If Jesus rose from the dead, then He has authority over everything - including your past, your present, and your eternity. Your biggest problems (guilt, fear, purposelessness, death itself) all meet their match in Him.

And here's the part people miss: Jesus isn't asking for your admiration. He's asking for your trust. He invites the weary and burdened to come to Him and find rest (Matthew 11:28). That's an invitation with your name on it.

How do I respond to Jesus?

Honestly. You can start with a simple conversation: "Jesus, if You're real, I want to know You."

You don't have to have it all figured out to begin. The people who followed Jesus first were fishermen and doubters and people with messy pasts - He specializes in those. If you're ready to take a real step, we've written out what following Jesus actually looks like, in plain language.
